The premise
In this kingdom, laying a hand on the queen means execution. She nonetheless gives the post outside her bedchamber to the humblest-born of all her guards, and keeps testing him night after night, knowing what it would cost him.
How it is built
Five episodes give one forbidden situation a single frame rather than a sweeping royal saga, and the death penalty supplies the stakes from the first episode. Two episodes are free; the other three cost 12 tokens each, 36 in total.
Who it is for
Readers who like historical or fantasy settings where rank is the obstacle. Cleopatra and Caesar and Claimed by the Dragon Queen are other royal-power set-ups in the catalogue.
Good to know
- 5 episodes, 2 free, 36 tokens for the rest
- Castle setting; contact with the queen is a capital crime
- Power runs entirely one way: queen over guard
